» How could I change the region's panel?

In a rendered BorderLayout, if I want to change one Region's panel, what I need to do? Use the Region's setPanel method first, then use the BoderLayout's container's doLayout method, to force it recalculate its layout? But it may cause something abnormal. Anyone knows how? :)What is the application-specific UI problem you are trying to solve here?I want to build a framework with the Viewport component, each region's content is decided by specific application. For example, in one application it is a TreePanel in the west region, but in another it may be a TabPanel. So my framework must have the ability to change region's panel type dynamically after rendered. My question is, how can I get it?You can't change the panel type. The...... - 2008-11-21

» Out of Sight: What was the Next Line?

I was watching the film Out of Sight last week, and there was this conversation between Jennifer Lopez, who played a Federal Marshall, and this creepy advertising guy. Creep: Excuse me, my associates and I made a little bet on what you did for a living, and I won. Hi, I’m Philip. J-Lo: If it’s OK with you Philip I’d rather just have a quiet drink and leave. Creep: Don’t you want to know what I guessed? How I know what you did for a living? J-Lo: Really, Philip, I don’t want to be rude, I just want to be left alone. For the rest of the film I was wondering, just what the hell was he going to say next if Jenny from the Block was as curious as I was?It won't actually answer your question I don't think...... - 2008-11-21

» Bug - vB2.x: E-mail sanity checking flawed

The regex for e-mail sanity checking is flawed and assumes that TLDs will be between 2 and 4 characters. This breaks addresses in longer TLDs. At the moment the only one affected as far as I know is .museum, but it's something to consider should new TLDs become available. I have not checked if this is the behavior in vB3 though I have no reason to believe it wouldn't be the same. Best wishes, PaulCloser inspection of the code reveals that this only is a problem when registering a new account and when parsing e-mail addresses in posts, etc. Updating the e-mail address does not attempt to verify a sane TLD, only that one is supplied. A separate e-mail regex is used for member.php. I'm not sure what the best implementation wo...... - 2008-11-21

» Does the Nikon D3...

just curious Does the Nikon D3 allow you to use DX lenses and FX lenses like the D700?Yes.Yes, but... You're only using the center of the frame and getting 5MP worth of photo. You can do it, but personally I think it's kinda silly. There's loads of discontinued and perfectly good film lenses out there to pickup though. AF-S 24-85 f/3.5-4.5D AF-D 28-105 f/3.5-4.5D (w/ 1:2 macro) AF-D 28-200 f/3.5-5.6G Tons more you can read all about here: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/nikkor.htm I just picked up a 28-105 for use on my F100 which is equivalent to the 18-70DX. Fantastic little lens and very sharp, all for a whopping $140 USD. I haven't been able to make a bad photo with it yet, and believe me I've tried. Like shooting a...... - 2008-11-21

» Losing money...

I don't think this is a big problem, as I think in part it's linked to the Rebrov deal. I remember reading when he left that this would be factored into our losses, thereby making it look a lot worse than it is. Typical media will try and do their best to make it seem like the club is on the edge of financial collapse. We're a wealthy club, no major debts and we've chopped off the highest earners from last season (Ferdinand, Sheringham and soon to be Anderton). Just need to cut out people like Perry, Thatcher and Iverson and we'll be right back on our feet. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/3064453.stmTo back up what I was saying earlier, about this announcement being purely a writedown of player trans...... - 2008-11-21

When windows Me starts in the normal mode, my logitech usb mouse does not work. Through the interactive loading (via configuration utility of the operating system), if I choose "no' for msmouse.vxd, windows seems to load all programs and drivers but the mouse does not work. If I choose "yes" to msmouse.vxd, step by step process stops and among other things, windows does not load network related drivers that I need to access internet through cable modem. Earlier, through interactive loading I also recognized that vsdata95.vxd was also creating problems in loading windows fully. I hope this is the right thread for this question, it seemed to fit it best. Im not an expert on this area, and these questions probably seem self explanatory, but I thought I would make sure. I want to offer a couple of my prints on ebay and make them limited prints, something like 100 or 250 or so. So what I was thinking is adding a thin border to the bottom of each print and put the name of the piece, the number of the print out of how many there will be, and then on the other side, my name, all typed. Then on the back of hte print, sign it and hand number it, however if they matte it which they probably will, the signature and hand numbering will be covered, so another idea is to sign and hand number it on the border and have th...... - 2008-11-21

Hi guys. I'm moderately new to photography and was interested in purchasing some filters. I've searched around on the forum and saw some "must haves" such as a circular polarizing filter and a neutral density filter. The problem is that I have no experience with different brands and models of filters. I'd love to hear from some experienced photographers on brands/models/general tips for filters. Also, as a side note can anyone recommend a good article/site that details how to clean a camera/lenses inside and out? I've started noticing individual pixels (especially in night photographs) not coming through.. in other words you can see red and blue pixels where they shouldn't be, which I can only assume is dust! Mosquito Repellents1 C. Roxanne Rutledge and Jonathan F. Day2 Female mosquitoes feed on blood to help their eggs develop into offspring (Figure 1). When she bites, she releases her saliva into the area where she is biting. Her saliva contains proteins that may cause some people to have an allergic reaction such as itchy red bumps and swollen hives. For those with increased sensitivity to bites, a blister, bruise, or large inflammatory reaction can occur. If a mosquito is harboring a virus, it is possible that she can transmit the virus to humans through her saliva. In Florida, the viruses that mosquitoes transmit can cause encephalitis. » Why tripods are not allowed near Public Places?

I am facing tripod issue very often. Whenever I get tripod out, Security guys of the monument come running and inform me not to use tripod :( I can understand that inside monuments, muesiums etc Tripods are generally not allwoed or need some permissions/payments to be made. But I am refering to placing tripods on roads or footpaths for shooting architechtures etc. has any one faced this problem ?Because this relates directly to photography I'm going to move this thread to "General Photography and Camera Q&A", it that's ok. The only reason for not letting you use tripods in public I can think of it if it's blocking people and you're getting in their way. They may think you'll use it as a weapon to.Thanks for moving the thread, I was c...... - 2008-11-21

» Can a scanner become "too hot"?

Today I scanned a whole lot of pics, just because I could (the power supply for my own computer arrived today and got installed again and it works again and with it the whole periphery can be used again, among it the scanner). I use an HP Scanjet 3770 flatbed scanner and scanned PRINTS, not negatives (it no longer knows how to convert them :( ). The first came out all right, but towards the end of the long (hours!) scanning process there appeared a red strip on all my scans. All of them. Any idea what can have caused it? The scanner is going on three years...Could be that it got too hot or you could have dust in the scanner. I would turn it off and clean it really well then try again. If it keeps happening it may need a in depth cleani...... - 2008-11-21

» Apply events to all objects

I want to apply some event to all objects in a WinForm. (I'll do WPF later, I want to do WinForms right now. :)) Event I want to do is keyPress. One way to do this would be to have a function, and all objects call this function from their own function and send in object, and event. Is there any other way? Is there any shortcut? What I'm trying to do is this. While I'm tying this post in a textbox, if I were to press "Ctrl+T", Firefox would open a new window. Basically, I want to add event only to the parent object, and all children would listen to that event (unless they have their own defined). (Delegate stuff is new, so I still need to look into it "deeply.") Thanks! :)I don't know how it would be in WinForms, but it may be si...... - 2008-11-21

» Pompey in for Smicer, Basinas

Nothing too much but I have to revive the forum somehow. ;) http://www.tribalfootball.com/july/engnews7030704.html http://www.tribalfootball.com/july/englshnews020704.htmlI don't know much about Basinas. Smicer strikes me as being a good player for Pompey to pick up.Very excited about the possibility of Basinas. I was impressed with him at the tournament. And off-topic, but I noticed prk166's sig. Denmark had three wins in their group in the 1986 World Cup. And, not to take anything away from Denmark, but it was an eight team tournament. Greece beat the hosts (twice), the defending champs, and the favourites. It seems they're really closing in on Besinas now, with Mandaric himself going to negotiate with Panathinaikos. I haven...... - 2008-11-21

» Tsukiko Amane.

I've just discovered this artist and I want to know people's opinions on her, if you know of her. She sang the song Chou (Butterfly) for Zero (Project Zero, Fatal Frame) 2: Crimson Butterfly. Fell in love with it when I heard it. What do other people think of her?Argh, can somebody edit this thread, please? Her name is Tsukiko Amano, not Tsukiko Amane... stupid typing mistake. Her "Sharon Stones" album is really good, if you can find it. She also has a new "best of" collection out that has 2 CDs and is nice too.I have that one. I can't find the album that has Koe (the theme for Zero 3) on it though. Do you know which it is or where I can get it?I'm not sure Koe is on one of her albums. It was released as a single. CD Japan has it. ...... - 2008-11-21

» Add a non-Ext child control?

Newbie here! I am sure this is simple, given how cool and flexible ExtJS appears to be! I just can't seem to find the answer in the help :) I have another "control" written by another party, that has nothing to do with ExtJS (and in fact is not written using the ExtJS library). This control has a method to be able to add itself into a DOM tree... So something like the "constructor" takes a DOM parent "thing" (node? element?) and then it creates its own div and then calls "appendChild" on the parent thing to add itself. My question is -- when can I do this with an ExtJS control? For example, let's say I want it to appear within a FormPanel. Normally we construct our FormPanels by filling in the "items" collection. This doesn't seem...... - 2008-11-21

» "network" sites

Hey, just wondering if this is possible. I am thinking of setting up what will be an effective network of sites. We want one thing though. All the sites in the network to share the same user info, ie, username, password, post count. The only difference is the actualy content on the forums. Chances are aswell we will be hosted on different servers. Each installation will have it's own license obviously, but we basically want to share the PM's, avatars, usernames, passwords, and all preferances, but at the same time have the forums themselves have totally different posts. Can this be done? And sorry for the poor explanation :oIt could be done, but it would require very heavy modification of the code to achieve. We do not provide...... - 2008-11-21

» Sao Paulo v. Santos [R]

Someone over on the Beautiful Game thread mentioned that this was a good game to watch when it was shown tape delay or rebroadcast last night, so I watched it. It was a very exciting game in a number of ways and I was wondering if anyone else here on the referee forum watched the game and had any comments about some of the referee's decisions. 1) The first penalty kick when the Santos keeper took Kaka down in the area. Keeper got a yellow card. IMO, should have been a red. 2) After the PK goal, Sao Paulo player who scores was cautioned for excessive celebration. A short while later after Sao Paulo had gone up 2-0 and Santos had a player sent off, Santos was able to get one back. After the goal, the Santos player runs off the pi...... - 2008-11-21

Thanks, PaulA quick reminder - you don't need to renew to keep USING, only to keep updating - I'm still somewhat uncertain if you have to retain CONTINUOUS coverage to use the renewal, or if you can delay renewing until theres's something worth renewing for, as it neither gets nor requires frequent updates.PaulAS, You don't need to have a continuous licence, you can choose to wait until a major update is released before renewing (as discussed in the Renewal (http://outpostfirewall.com/forum/showt...... - 2008-11-21

» How much do you need to know?

It seems that in many fields (medicine, law, finance/accounting, engineering, aviation, culinary arts, and academia-->history, mathematics, bible studies, etc.), on-the-job perfomance requires the practitioner to know a large number of facts. I will concede that they must know how to use those facts to work creatively...but...there -is- a large amount of foundational knowledge they must obtain and retain. Can you find for me three or more references that discuss the amount of knowledge one must know to be successful in various fields. I'm looking for numbers...recognizing that they will be estimates. » sending to multiple addresses?

I am having trouble sending to multiple addresses, and can't figure out why. We have a database of customers (kids at our summer camp) to whom we'd like to send occasional updates. If I generate a file of all their email address and copy it into the Outlook address line, it looks ok, but usually comes back to me as "Undeliverable". Sometimes it goes through. Are there "gotchas" to watch for in such situations? And/or is there a better way to send emails to multiple addresses, wherein each person doesn't see all the other addreses?you'll need to give more detail on how you are "generating" your list of email addresses. As for hiding the addresses - do a bcc (Blind Carbon Copy). This hides all email addresses. So as to not worry the...... - 2008-11-21

» Crashing when I try to open a folder

Hi all, This is my first experience with XBMC so be gentle with me! I have an older pc that is going to wind up as a media center this winter adn I've been looking into options for it. So far XBMC seems to be the best, if I can get it working. Here's the issue: XBMC will crash to desktop whenever I try to open a folder on my USB hard drive. The streaming apple trailers work fine (very nice actually!), only my local folders cause this. Is it happening because the files are on an external drive? Logfile (http://pastebin.com/m18d0d03): http://pastebin.com/m18d0d03 I tried a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. » Layouts in V2 for a newby.

I'm looking for some basic documentation on creating and working with Layouts in Ext V2. I've read "Tutorial:Using Layouts with Ext - Part 1 (http://extjs.com/learn/Tutorial:Using_Layouts_with_Ext_-_Part_1)" which works fine in Ext V1 but not in V2. I've looked at the V2 Examples, particularly 'Layout Managers : Border Layout' and the code seems completely different. I've also read 2.0 Change Log (preliminary) (http://extjs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12866) which mentions "2.0 Upgrade Guide", but that isn't available yet. So can anyone point me towards doc's I can read about using layouts in Ext V2. Bare in mind I am very new to Ext and am trying to find my way around. Where can I find historical data for horse racing events, including each race's pre-race odds (Win & Place for each horse) and post-race payouts (Win, Place, Quinella Place)? I need data for at least 500 races, regardless of where the race was held. If you cannot find 500 races, then races in HK in the past 2-3 years are accepted.Hi dling... I have a friend who is quite the pony lover. He has made a really awesome database analyzer of horse performances vs past races. Very slick, and great for handicapping. The reason I mention this is, he has to pay for the data that he gets. Most race data does have some price associated with it. A list like you wish would probably be about 50c to $1 per race. Just wondering about what other people are doing. I guess the answers could be different for the bride and bridesmaids to all, so I'd love to hear about what you are planning or what you actually had at your wedding: what type (nosegay, hand-tied, cascade, etc) are you having? what type are your bridesmaids carrying? Are you keeping it to one color or mixing them up? Did you go with 1 flower or several different flowers? How did your choices work if you had a variety of sized bridesmaids? Did you give bigger bridesmaids larger bouquets or same size for them all? Was your MOH different from the bridesmaids? For those a bit fluent or native speaking to Japanese, I would just like your thoughts on my observation below: As I learn conversational Japanese more and more with my wife and other friends, I have been coming across a ton of borrowed words, and just end up speaking English with a Japanese pronunciation. If I need help translating words, I get the exact same thing, but in Katakana, but when I look in a dictionary, I will actually see a real Japanese translation in kanji/hiragana for what I am looking for. Why is it that there are Japanese words for our English equivelant words, and they are not being used as much anymore? Is it really that much easier to say in Japanese? Thanks guys!It also depends on how well your wife and fri...... - 2008-11-21

There is no right answers, but I would like to know in everyone's opinions who are the top 10 rappers currently alive. Here is my list, don't hate: 1. Jay-Z (Young Hov's earned it and he's at the top of the game. One of the only rappers to go in the booth with B.I.G. and other legends. He's been in the game for 12 years and he still hasn't cooled off. Every album presents new flair and material just when you thought he couldn't think of anything else.) 2. » sexual identity in theatre

to what extent can theatre express notions of culture and identity? This seems to be two questions as sexual identity is one of many kinds of identity and culture also has broad meanings. The theatre rivals the printed word and one on one contacts for expressing sexual identity and notions of culture and identity. Success is limited only by the skill of the playwrite, the director, actors, seanary, and the receptiveness of the audiance. So to a great extent. NeilI would add that one of theater's primary roles in society throughout the ages has been precisely that. I think to get an answer, you might want to get more specific about what you're looking for... First off, do you specifically mean sexual identity? Assuming you do, are...... - 2008-11-21
